Update:
We have booked flights for the crew of the Pipedream to come home for a few months.
Mom was looking at flights to come to Kemer for Christmas and after we looked into a flight home for 3 months it was clear that it would only be $500 more to fly two people home for three months rather than fly Mom here for only 2 weeks. So we booked the flight and Merry Christmas Mom, you are stuck with us!
We fly out of Antalya December 15, 2010 and return March 14, 2011.
I’m excited to be home for Christmas and New Years and to get to see friends, family, and my pug!
Another piece of exciting news is that we were officially added to the list for the 2011 Emyr. It’s a sailing rally that takes place every year and we heard the list was full for 2011 already, but there was a waiting list. Dad put in an application anyway and got an e-mail back saying we were added to the list and that they weren’t asking for any payment but once the itinerary for 2011 was set they would let us know what we had to do at that point. So once that all comes out and we can figure out how much it’s going to cost us we can really decide.
All of the people here and that we are in contact with have said it’s the experience of a life time. We would be leaving from Kemer, going through Cypress, Syria, Israel, Egypt and back to Israel all in about a month. These are places we would never go on our own and it’s exciting to think about!
If we end up not doing it, Dad is working out the alternative trip for the Pipedream and once everything is worked out I will pass on the plan!
The Emyr website is: http://www.emyr.org/ if anyone wants to check out last years route and information.
