Watch Your Head: Chapter 3 "The Hillside Su"

Chapter 3: The Hillside Su

Monday we went into the market so Bryan could experience real Kemer.

I made Bryan have some fresh pomegranate juice.  He said it was full of flavor but a bit bitter for his taste.

On our bike ride home he wanted a photo of the stop sign, so we got one!

We decided to spend some time off of the boat.  When we were looking at hotels in Antalya that were still open for winter and in the right price range we came across something so different from the boat or anywhere else we had ever stayed before that we had to grab at the chance to stay there.  We booked three nights and then I had to figure out how to get to the hotel.

I knew there was an express bus for 6TL that took us to the Migros center but didn’t know where to pick it up.  I knew once we got to Migros we just had to cross a highway like street and then walk a little ways and we were there.  I asked around, found out where the bus stop was, and we were on our way!

The bus stop was in town so we took the beach route to get there.  It was a beautiful day for a walk.

Just another photo OP on the beach walk.

This caught us off guard.  It was a statue in a park/garden of a hotel.  Very… well interesting?
The bus ride was uneventful and we managed to walk to the hotel without any problems.  It was a longer walk than I had thought, but the weather was nice so it was enjoyable.

This is the Hillside Su hotel.  At night there are neon lights that glow in different colors illuminating it.

The lobby is lined with disco balls!  As you can see the hotel is super modern.  Everything from the walls to the floors to every piece of furniture was white.  At first it’s a little unnerving but by the end of the three days it was just fun.

There were two ladies that led us to the room and told us about the hotel and everything it had to offer.  Bryan got a suite so the room was huge, nice high ceilings and a king sized bed, that was big but not very comfortable – the only negative thing about the experience.

This is the sitting area.  The couch was just a built in mattress with oversized bean bag pillows.  You can see the mirrors… this part was a bit weird but made the space look huge.

This is the balcony.  There was a bed on every balcony with the idea of luxury everywhere.  What was sort of cool was that all of the built in furniture had lights under it.  There was a choice of white light or of red pinkish light.

There were also lava lamps in every room with the option to purchase!  I did not get one, but Mow enjoyed it.

Mow was a bit hung over when this was taken… I just liked the way the sign was designed.

This is the view from the elevator of the back of the hotel.  There was orange trees planted on the walkway to the pool.  Beyond the pool was the Med and beyond that was Antalya.

This was a sign on the orange trees: Citrus fruit looks better on the tree. The citrus fruit has a sour taste. Please do not eat.

This is the pool when it was green…

And then it would change to blue or pink.  It was too cold to swim in, but we liked looking at the changing colors at night.

This is the lobby at night.  So shiny!

Bryan and I went down to the lounge for a drink.  I felt a bit under dressed, but really enjoyed getting to see everything lit up.  A truly visual experience.

And yet another mirror!  They saved money on buying art work for the walls and just have mirrors everywhere.

There was a continental breakfast buffet which was very impressive.  This is a cool artist photo I took at the restaurant where breakfast was being served.

And this is one of Bryan and I in… a mirror!

This is on the way out after we checked out.  Mow wanted one last shot of the fun lobby.

Overall it was an amazing three days.  I got to watch sitcoms like “Friends” and “Desperate Housewives”, we got to sleep in, eat a lot, and enjoy a place that couldn’t have been more different from the boat… I mean I didn’t have to make the bed or provide the fresh towels.
